Player Profile: Nathan Browne
There are few players that can control the game when the puck is on their stick like the Vernon Bantam AAA Vipers defenseman Nathan Browne. The 6′0″, 160-pound blueliner put up 42 points (6G,36A) in 64 games for his club this year. He is a slick skating, very complete talent, that has a high compete level, as well as a pure love of the game matched by few. His skating and offensive ability are comparable to a young Florida Panthers blueliner Jay Bouwmeester. He is unselfish and exudes leadership both on and off the ice. Nathan will pick his spots, and rush the puck when an opening appears. He is not afraid of the physical side of the game as well, and will punish his opponents with bruising body checks similar to those of his hockey idol Dion Phaneuf. Nathan has all the makings of a skilled, imposing defender that NHL scouts will drool over someday. Browne has since been listed by the WHL’s Kamloops Blazers, and has been an anchor on the blueline for the Okanagan Major Midget Rockets for the past two seasons.
